Many household appliances and systems rely on precious power to run, but they can be costly to maintain due to high energy prices. An energy company is taking steps to ensure that residents of Louisiana are making the most out of their systems by implementing a rebate system, according to an article on the NOLA website published last November 13, 2014. The program aims to cut down on household energy use throughout the state without sacrificing efficiency. The article elaborates:
Entergy Louisiana and Entergy Gulf States said Thursday (Nov. 13) that the Entergy Solutions program offers a number of ways for residential and business customers to cut energy use, including cash rebates to replace lighting with more efficient models and incentives for upgrading air conditioning units.
The program does not include Orleans Parish customers, who have a separate energy efficiency program developed by Entergy New Orleans and the New Orleans City Council.
Entergy Louisiana and Entergy Gulf States CEO Phillip May said in a statement that the goal of the first, three-year phase of the program is to "offer customers easy, convenient ways to save money and protect the environment by cutting their energy use."
The roll out comes nearly two years after the Louisiana Public Service Commission first approved a statewide energy efficiency program, requiring utilities across the state to develop programs that would help customers save energy.
It is no secret that air conditioning is one of the largest guzzlers of energy in a home, hence the energy company’s call for more efficient models to be used. While the company encourages households to purchase new air conditioning models with better energy efficiency, not a lot of families are keen on spending a fortune on AC units under the pretense that it makes more savings in the long run. The more economical option would be to call for a contractor like AccuTemp Cooling and Heating to perform comprehensive AC repair in Bossier City, LA.
Air conditioners typically have a finite useful life of around 10 years, but they can suffer from a variety of performance issues until then. The issues include an imbalance in cooling among several rooms, the presence of humidity despite the AC unit running, and leaky air ducts, among many others. By resolving these problems, an air conditioner’s performance can be restored, saving homeowners from having to purchase a new unit. Contractors that offer air conditioning repair around Bossier City, LA should be able to address most AC performance issues and fix them before they lead to further damage of the cooling system.
